Member of the Month
Congratulations to the Achilles Athlete of the Month Stanislaw Spolnik! Stanislaw has completed an astounding 148 marathons and 18 ultramarathons since becoming a member back in 1987. He is one of the first founders of our Achilles Poland Chapter and is the honorary president of their visually impaired chapter. Stanislaw has been visually impaired since the age of 22 but that hasn't stopped him! He is the heart and soul of the visually impaired chapter in Poland, always helps others, motivates the younger members to run, to stay positive and find joy in life. What an amazing and wonderful man.
1993 was his best year, when Stanislaw completed an astonishing TEN marathons in TEN months - including London, Boston, NYC, Seattle and Vancouver marathons. But he didn't stop there! He also went on to South Africa for the 90k ULTRAmarathon where he got the bronze medal!
Overall, Stanislaw has participated in more than 50 international marathons all over the world. His best finish time was 3 hours, 22 minutes, when he was 51 years old. He is 61 now, is still a strong and active member of Achilles, and proudly wears his Achilles shirt in every race.
