Achilles Athletes: Register for NYC Marathon 2013
It has come to our attention that there is confusion regarding 2013 NYC Marathon procedures for admission.
Please complete a paper application, have your chapter head or program leader sign off on it and submit the original to the main Achilles office. Keep a copy of the completed paper application for yourself because you will be sent an invitation via email to complete the online application in early June.
Those of you who were slated to participate in the 2012 New York City Marathon (NYCM) and opted to waive NYRR's refund in favor of Guaranteed Entry must still complete the paper and online applications -- Again, you will be sent an invitation via email to complete the online application in early June. Also, waiving NYRR's 2012 refund does not count toward the 2013 entry fee.
First-time marathoners and those who were not registered for last year's race should follow the above guidelines too.
Handcyclists who were registered for the canceled 2012 NYCM will be given priority over new hancycle applicants, but the above details apply to them as well.
If you are a handcyclist who was not registered for 2012, please complete a paper application, and send it to your chapter president or program leader for sign off, then fax it to 212-354-3978, or e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Depending on demand/available entries, a lottery for remaining handcycle slots may be necessary.
All ambulatory, pushrim and handcycle athletes for whom paying the entry fee would be a hardship, please complete the paper application, have your chapter president or program leader sign off on it and send it to: Achilles International, 42 W 38th St., Suite 400, New York, NY 10018 OR scan and email the paper application to your contact at Achilles. When everything is in order, you will receive an invitation to register between June 5 and June 6.
