Achilles Citi Bike® Adaptive Cycling Program Kicks Off in Central Park
Nearly 100 athletes with disabilities and volunteers attended the summer kickoff celebration of the Achilles Citi Bike® Adaptive Cycling Program in New York City.
In addition to the weekly free adaptive handcycle and tandem bike rides for people with disabilities, the kickoff celebration included music, food, and raffle prizes.
"At Achilles, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the freedom, confidence, and connection that comes through movement. Thanks to the incredible support of Citi Bike®, we're expanding access to adaptive cycling across New York City and creating more opportunities for people with disabilities to discover what's possible. Whether someone is trying adaptive cycling for the first time or training for a race, we're excited to welcome riders of all abilities and help them experience the joy of sport," said Francesco Magisano, Achilles NYC Metro Region Director.
Achilles NYC hosts free adaptive run, walk, and roll workouts each week in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens, thanks to Citi Bike® and Lyft.
"Citi Bike was built on the belief that cycling should be accessible to everyone, and our partnership with Achilles International takes that commitment even further. Every handcycle and tandem bike is adapted to the rider for a truly customized experience. Across Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens, riders come for the bikes and stay for the community. Thank you to Citi for your support in making this possible, and we look forward to welcoming riders of all abilities this summer," said Inbar Kishoni, Senior Manager of Community & Equity Programs at Lyft Urban Solutions.
