Meet the Marathoner: Fallon Races From Hope & Possibility® to London
For Fallon Sullivan of New York, NY, it was only a matter of time before she got involved with Achilles. Her roommate had been training with the NYC chapter, having learned of Achilles from her sister who fundraised as a member of Team Achilles for the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon. Read a short Q&A below about what motivated Fallon to raise over $12,000 to support the mission and run the 2025 TCS London Marathon with Team Achilles.
What motivated you to join Team Achilles?
I ran the 2024 Achilles Hope & Possibility® 4M Presented by TD Bank race. Despite the heat, the turnout was incredible, and the energy was contagious. Being surrounded by Achilles athletes from chapters all over the country and world was so amazing, and it really showed me how much the sport can and should be accessible for everyone who wants to participate. In the three years I have been running, the sport has transformed my life for the better, and I immediately wanted to help everyone have the chance to experience the same joy and sense of community that I have the privilege of experiencing. I am truly honored to be a small part of an organization that works to empower all athletes, and help them achieve their hopes and dreams.
What was a highlight of your London Marathon experience?
One of my favorite moments was the shakeout run the day before the marathon with Team Achilles. I brought my family along to meet the other athletes and team members, which made it feel even more special. It helped ease my nerves and gave me the chance to connect with Achilles athletes from around the world.
Also, during the race, seeing other Team Achilles athletes on the course was such a boost. Running alongside them for stretches and chatting about the race always lifted my spirits.
How did Team Achilles support you on your marathon journey?
Team Achilles made sure that I felt completely supported every step of the way. From team calls and resources during training to knowing there was always someone I could reach out to with questions, I never felt alone. Also, being a part of the Achilles NYC chapter and attending weekly workouts in Central Park was a huge source of motivation and community throughout my training.
They also provided a fundraising page that had helpful email templates and plenty of information I could share, which made it so much easier to reach out to my network and ultimately helped me crush my fundraising goal!
Will you be running with Team Achilles again?
Absolutely! I love doing workouts with Achilles in Central Park, where I get to make and see so many friends. My goal is to finish the rest of the Abbott World Major Marathons with Team Achilles. I have four left and completing them alongside this team would mean the world to me. I also hope to volunteer more as an official guide for local races too. Any ways I can be involved, I want to keep supporting this amazing organization and community.
Is there any advice you have for anyone considering joining Team Achilles?
It’s truly the most welcoming, inspiring, and supportive team you could ever be part of. The Achilles staff and community go above and beyond to make sure you feel encouraged, included, and prepared every step of the way.
If you’re on the fence, take the leap and join a weekly workout in your city or nearby. It will quickly become the highlight of your week! You’ll experience firsthand the joy, camaraderie, and purpose that make Achilles so special. You’ll see how powerful it is when a community comes together to make the sport you love accessible to everyone. You truly won’t regret it.
