RESILIENCE RELAY FEATURED ATHLETE: CEDRIC

Achilles Resilience Relay 2021

CEDRIC KING

United States Army Master Sergeant (Retired) Cedric King. Cedric met Achilles in the Spring of 2013, while recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He was extremely determined to run and push himself from day one, and he continues to do so today. Cedric has completed 13 full marathons and 6 half marathons. A double leg amputee, Cedric mostly runs marathons on his blades, but has also occasionally handcycled and completed one marathon using a pushrim racing chair.  During the pandemic, Cedric says, “I knew we would be back together one day, and I didn’t want to let the team down by not training when I could.”

In addition to pounding the pavement and conquering 400+ miles during the Relay’s AFT 400, June 27-June 30, Cedric is looking forward to, “doing trivia contests, name-that-tune, seeing all my good friends and doing a lot of laughing.”  Cedric is also an accomplished public speaker.
